I was very honored to accept an invitation to show my work for RAW Seattle. A gallery showcasing various artists and mediums in the Seattle area. A national organization, RAW galleries focus on emerging artists in regional markets and give them an opportunity to show their work, while networking within that region's artistic community. A special thanks to all of my friends, colleagues and family who supported me, and thank you, RAW Seattle!
Fantastically fun shoot with Stylist, Devon Herling, for zulily's special event Mini Fashionistas. Some of my favorite models came in for this one: Caron, Dash, Charlie, Katie and Nick were sensational as our trendy, urban kids! We had the go-ahead for an edgier, less-smiley shoot, which is always fun to try and get 5 year olds to act like models (it actually plays in our favor for kids who are too cool for school). Remember at the end of the movie Zoolander, where Ben Stiller is saying hi to Derek Jr? I am pretty sure that Dash Instafanous is that baby, 8 years later (the math not add up on that though). Mini Fashionista was a styled by Devon Herling and the concept was slightly different from our usual zulily brand, depicting urban kids in a more natural, stoic poses. The first of five fashionistas, Dash was well suited for this project.Read More
The second part of the American Icon Series behind the scenes features our work with Lindsey Jensen as Taylor Swift. The setting is a recording studio with Taylor being Taylor. We went for more quirky, fun expressions, which Lindsey excels at. The lighting was slightly different here as we needed a bit more pop and less shadow for Taylor. The outfit was well styled and really pops off the wooden background. Hair and makeup were well done by Ashlee Bullinger and Alegra Rege. Enjoy!Read More
The first edition of our American Icon Series, Marilyn Monroe, splendidly modeled by our talented hair and make-up artist, Kristen Hackbarth. This entire project was a last minute addition to our calendar, and had warning signs all over it as far as effective execution. Our Creative Lead, JP Flores, gave the stylist, Blanca Martinez and myself a general idea of what he wanted the end result to be and a lot of leeway into how we wanted to execute, which truly enabled us to create something beautiful.
A simple variation of butterfly lighting and a touch of fill and hair-light with a background gradient were all I needed and let Blanca, Kristen, and perhaps most importantly, Ashlee Bullinger (hair and make-up) do the rest!Read More
